Lucinda Williams kommt auf Tour und präsentiert mit ihrem 12. Album The Ghosts Of Highway 20 den Nachfolger zu Down Where The Spirits Meet the Bone. Nach 11 erfolgreichen Studioalben befindet sich Lucinda Williams in einer der produktivsten Phasen ihrer immerhin 40 Jahre umspannenden Karriere. Immerhin ist dieses Album das zweite in 18 Monaten. The Ghosts of Highway 20W wurde produziert von Williams, Greg Leisz und Tom Overby und aufgenommen mit Williams Rhythmus-Sektion Butch Norton (Drums) und David Sutton (Bass). Val McCallum an der Gitarre war bei zwei Stücken dabei. Die beiden Gitarristen Bill Frisell und Greg Leisz sorgen für unglaubliche klangliche Texturen und ätherische Töne, die Williams brillantes Songwriting betonen. 12 der 14 Stücke sind direkt beeinflusst von Williams' Erfahrungen, die direkt mit dem Highway 20 bzw der Interstate 20 verknüpft sind. Die Straße verläuft Georgia nach Texas. Das Album enthält die intensivsten und experimentellsten Arrangements, die Williams jemals aufgenommen hat, wie etwa bei Dust, dem entspannten If My Love Could Kill und House of Earth, übrigens ein verloren gegangener Woody Guthrie Song, zu dem Williams nun die Musik schrieb.
